I bought a clean burn waste oil furnace/ heater CB 1800 Fact. for $1,850.00 on 1/25/08 on e-bay from this business and I never recieved it and been calling ever sense for information so I can have it picked up but I never get any call back or e-mail.
As of Feb 20 2013 I have not recieved my call back or the waste oil heater.
Despite all the bad stuff I heard about this place, I'm a man of chances. I first called to see about a used piece of equipment to purchase. Was told that the guy to talk to "Rick" wasn't in today. They provided me the number to call to reach him. So, I called the number the guy who picked up said he was busy and he would take my number down and call me back, he never did. Chance #2, decided to walk in and see if someone would face to face help me. I got the run around that the guy who normally does the sales (Rick) was away. I then was able to test out a piece of equipment and for the most part like it, but noticed it needed some work. Oil was dark, sticks and debris where debris should be and could totally tell it was stored outside. Which, I don't mind putting a little work into something to keep it running. But the amount they told me the seller wanted was crazy high. Knowing it needed a couple new parts and fluid change I counter offered on the machine that I felt was very fair based off of the information on other machines of the same thing online. The person I felt with was more concerned about the time on their watch than to help a customer out and reach out to the seller. I had the cash in hand and was waiting for the call but no one called me. Frustrated about the service I looked elsewhere over night. Found a machine with 6 more horsepower and much much cleaner. The customer service has been stellar as well at the other place. I called homesteaders the next day to see if the seller would take my offer. Was told I was "too low" tells me how greedy some people really are. Definitely read these comments and listen to reviewers before wasting your time. I can't believe the doors are still open here. They have absolutely no customer service skills and give no f***s about making a sale.
I bought a FERRIS zero turn mower from a different dealer but brought it to The Homesteader store in Richland Center for service in the fall of 2016. The store Manager (Rob), the office staff and the mechanics are all great people. They went out of their way to deal with the Briggs and Stratton Company to get me a replacement mower engine instead of a repair to the engine. They installed the new engine, greased the machine and had it ready for me in a few days. The store where I bought the machine, would not even try to deal with the engine manufacturer (by the way, Briggs and Stratton is an excellent customer service company as well). I find the prices for equipment at this store to be competitive and they have a good sized inventory on hand or they can get additional inventory from their Madison store or the OEM manufacturers. Overall I am very pleased with the products and service at this store.
I am taking legal actions against them. It will be hard because I live in Buffalo NY
I advised not to doany business with this company!!!!!!!!

I was really impressed with the customer service at the Homesteader's store. I traded in my ATV for a UTV and realized when we got there that the UTV would not fit on the trailer I brought. The Homesteader's store let me borrow one of their trailers so that I wouldn't have to come back and pick it up a different day. I really appreciated their flexibility.
I always have to talk to Rick the owner and the last time that I got past the screening of calls he wasnt very nice and he told me that he would have to call me back with the details and never did.
Bought used chain saw and mower here both were good deals . thanks Homesteaders!
